harissa fries
The first expo of HF was in 2024 at Het Bos. The second expo takes place on Museumnact at MAS Antwerpen on 01/08/26.
‘Harissa Fries’ is an exploration of identity, belonging, and cultural fusion. Inspired by the blend of my Tunisian and Belgian heritage, the installation will try to recreate the intimate and familiar setting of a snack shop, in a very simple way - an environment where cultures and stories often intersect.
The name itself, Harissa Fries, reflects my own duality: the fiery kick of harissa, a staple in Tunisian cuisine, and the simple and humble Belgian comfort food, fries. This story explores the complexities of growing up between two worlds, what it means to navigate, embrace, and sometimes question the layers of a mixed identity.
Migration doesn't only move people, it moves flavors. Food has always transcended borders, connecting cultures through shared meals and evolving traditions. Just as harissa found a home in Belgium, cuisines continuously blend, borrowing from one another to create new identities, new tastes, and new love stories.
